Our Society was formed in 1928 under the name of 'The Tasmanian Cambrian Society', as it was the only Welsh Society in Tasmania at that time. As Launceston also now has a Welsh Society the name has been changed to 'The Welsh Society of Southern Tasmania' as our members come from the Hobart area. Our current membership is about 40 people. We enjoy many social get-togethers throughout the year, such as BBQs at members homes either to celebrate a special event, or simply to keep in touch.
