The Hotel Portmeirion
http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/hotels/portmeir.html
Portmeirion's creator, Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, had long nurtured the idea of one day building his own ideal village on some romantic coast. This seemed to him to be the perfect place. The Hotel Portmeirion is based on the early Victorian Villa near the shore. Writers such as George Bernard Shaw, H G Wells and Bertrand Russell were habitués. Noel Coward wrote his best known comedy here, Blithe Spirit, during a two week stay at Lower Fountain in 1941.
