The Welsh Blood Service is a National Health Service unit, part of a Hospital Trust, responsible to the Welsh Assembly. We collect blood, process it, test it and store it before delivery to the hospitals in Wales which we supply. We also provide special blood reference services and ante natal blood testing services to hospitals and we have a Tissue Typing laboratory which provides the information which transplantation units need on whether organ donors are a match for the patients requiring transplants.
