The Welsh Pony and Cob Society was established in 1901 by landowners, farmers and those interested in the Welsh Breeds, who recognised the importance of documenting and recording the pedigrees of Welsh Ponies and Cobs. Elan Valley, the lakeland of Wales, an internationally important wildlife site of over 70 square miles. The land is owned by Dŵr Cymru and is managed by the Elan Valley Trust. It contains five reservoirs which have supplied water to Birmingham for a hundred years.
