The area is to the West of Llandrindod Wells and consists of a mainly rural area in the upper reaches of the Wye Valley. Llanfyllin has a long and interesting history. It is set in a deep valley surrounded by gently rolling hills which are typical of Mid-Wales. Tradition alludes to Saint Myllin, the 7th century Celt, as the first cleric to baptise by total immersion in his holy well.
