Llanfyllin Town Councilhttp://community-councils.powys.org.uk/llanfyllin Llanfyllin has a long and interesting history. It is set in a deep valley surrounded by gently rolling hills which are typical of Mid-Wales. Tradition alludes to Saint Myllin, the 7th century Celt, as the first cleric to baptise by total immersion in his holy well. The town is named after him and the church is also dedicated to St Myllin.CATEGORIES: Town and Community Councils LOCATIONS: Llanfyllin
Dwyriw Community Councilhttp://community-councils.powys.org.uk/dwyriw A rural district in the uplands of Mid Montgomeryshire, drained Eastwards by the two main tributaries of the Avon Rhiw. Highest points are in the West and South of the district on Moorland over 1300ft above sea level (>400m). It is a sparsely populated district with under 350 people on the electoral roll. The largest settlement is the village of Adfa with three further clusters of population at Llanyddelan, Llanllugan and Cefn Coch. There are a mixture of Welsh and English speaking families in the area.CATEGORIES: Town and Community Councils LOCATIONS: Dwyriw
Llanwddyn Community Councilhttp://community-councils.powys.org.uk/llanwddyn Our little community is scattered around Lake Vyrnwy, Abertridwr and the Cownwy valley. Originally the village of Llanwddyn was higher up the valley, but was flooded when Liverpool built the dam in the 1880s. Our main industries are sheep farming, forestry, tourism and, of course, water.CATEGORIES: Town and Community Councils LOCATIONS: Llanwddyn More Results: 1 2 3 Next |
