The South Wales Junior Cricket League was formed following a discussion between 9 local cricket enthusiasts during the winter of 1972. Over the years the League has expanded to become one of the largest in the country and now caters for the needs of young cricketers from the age of 11 through to 16 by way of League and Cup Competitions.

Cimla Cricket Club are always pleased to host incoming touring sides on Sundays or Midweek. Cimla Cricket Club are a Club of moderate achievement with a steeply sloping ground but the wicket is not bad. Cimla Cricket Club teas are plentiful and the Lager is cold and rather wet!

Ponthir Cricket Club is located at The Oaklands Ground, Ponthir. We have three senior teams (Firsts, Seconds and Thirds) who play in the Glamorgan & Monmouthshire Cricket League and a further senior team who play in the Newport and District Midweek League – Division One. We also run an U17\'s side in conjunction with Monkswood Cricket Club.
