The modern Kune Kune pig comes from New Zealand, but how they got there is a mystery that no one has yet solved. The Maoris kept them for meat and had them running around the houses. It has even been said that the children were seen riding on their backs. This probably explains why they have an excellent temperament and love the company of humans. Home of the Vatch Herd of pedigree medium-legged Dexter cattle and our flock of coloured sheep especially bred to provide interesting fleeces for spinners and felters. The farm is run in a traditional way with the least possible input of chemicals and a concern for the welfare of the animals. Any medicine used is homoeopathic whenever possible. We have a commercial beef herd and sheep flock, we also have a pedigree flock of texel sheep called Jonsland Pedigree Texels and a small pedigree herd of Limousin and a small herd of Charolais cattle.
